The academics at EIGSI La Rochelle are organized around a common core needed to build a knowledge base in sciences and humanities. During the 5 years of study, EIGSI professors provide high level science education to the engineering students.
During the first two years (EIGSI-1 and EIGSI-2), the classes revolve around:
- Basic engineering: algebra, geometry, calculus, complex series, etc.
- Applied scientific disciplines: electromagnetism, strength of materials, mechanical systems, thermodynamics, sequential control systems, etc.
- Languages: Learning two foreign languages is mandatory. A third language is optional and most often chosen if the student has a specific career plan in mind
- Humanities and organizational knowledge: business, professional communication, career plan, etc.
Starting in the third year (EIGSI-3), more multidisciplinary classes are added. But throughout the five years of study, balance and progressive learning are key factors in the academics at EIGSI La Rochelle.
In addition, starting in the first two years, students are introduced to real industrial situations, case studies in the form of projects, internships and supervised missions, for a well-balanced and enriching study programme.
Each student can forge a true scientific and technical culture, which is essential to a career as a general engineer. But EIGSI engineering students are above all introduced to the real working conditions that they will encounter later, particularly in the fields of management and organization.
