Research, a core activity at EIGSI
Research is one of an engineering school’s key duties. Through research, new scientific expertise can be maintained and developed particularly to meet the requirements of the school’s industrial partners. In this respect, it acts as a guarantee of the quality of training received by engineers and a condition for their successful integration into the workplace.
2 main research areas: mobility and energy
At EIGSI, research is organised around two strands: Mobility (Smart and Integrated Mobility) and Energy (Energy and Sustainable Urban Coastal Development). These research themes are developed in a complementary manner across the two campuses in La Rochelle and Casablanca. Regular PhD student and researcher exchanges between these two campuses play a part in this synergy.
Guidelines
The guidelines for research at EIGSI are clearly identified and steer the Research & Innovation policy set up:
- Targeted, technological research that meets clearly identified industrial or societal needs.
- A distinction is drawn between:
- Projects that are fully or partly financed by private stakeholders or public funds (whether national or European).
- Self-funded projects that focus on more fundamental themes and contribute to the school’s scientific resourcing.
- These research activities provide specific visibility for the teams’ skills within their scientific community.
The research laboratories
There are several research laboratories across EIGSI’s two campuses which enable projects to be conducted in both of the areas defined by the school (Energy & Mobility).
