EIGSI’s reputation is actively shaped by the long-standing themes of Energy and Mobility. Since 2018, these themes have formed part of the Local Plan for Higher Education, Research and Innovation (SLESRI), in which La Rochelle (CDA) partners are involved. Within this ecosystem, EIGSI acts as a key stakeholder regarding research, innovation and entrepreneurship ambitions and plays an instrumental role within the Smart & Sustainable Urban Coastal Environments cluster (LUDI). This local drive has secured funding through the Investments of the Future Programme (PIA), following the ‘Highly Ambitious Innovative Region’ (TIGA) national call for proposals. The winning project, entitled La Rochelle: Zero-Carbon Territory, seeks to fight climate change and cut the city’s carbon footprint by 30% by 2030 to achieve carbon neutrality by 2040.
At regional level, EIGSI is involved in flagship projects within the context of the Regional Plan for Higher Education, Research and Innovation (SRESRI). One example is FERROCAMPUS®, a project supported by the Nouvelle Aquitaine Region aimed at developing a national centre of expertise in the rail sector for research and training alike. EIGSI is making a key contribution to this project, not least to its governance.
Another regional facility in which EIGSI is involved is the Acceleration Platform of the Factory of the Future led by the Nouvelle-Aquitaine Development & Innovation Agency. Participation in this programme has been made possible via the schools of the ISAE Nouvelle Aquitaine Group within the Scientific Interest Group ‘Practice 4.0’. The aim of this programme is to bring together all of the regional stakeholders committed to the transition towards Industry 4.0, with a view to making the resources, skills and resources necessary for the businesses to transform accessible and efficient.
Clusters
EIGSI is also an active member of five competitiveness clusters (Aerospace Valley, ID4CAR, S2E2, NextMove, SEML Route des Lasers), as well as three business clusters (Odéys, Digitalbay, Soltena) whose themes chime with its research strands.
